There are no words that can describe how it looks and how it feels to be here.

Cactus in bloom.

This picture was taken from inside the Watchtower (a historic structure) on the eastern end of the southern rim.
As we neared the National Park we could see and smell smoke and then we saw the warning sign, "smoke". We were told that there had been a lightening strike the day before and they were letting nature take it's course and let the fire burn naturally. Unfortunately for us it made our view of the canyon hazy. The smoke seemed to hang there and sink down into the canyon. A great view of the Colorado River can be seen in the above pic.

Pretty neat to see the canyon from this area.

The eastern entrance to the Grand Canyon goes through Indian reservations. They have provided a view at the beginning of the canyon. They also have tables selling their jewelry and pottery. They had some of the most beautiful items for sale here. Unfortunately, I passed it up I will buy some later but I never found anymore that was as pretty as they had here.

This was also a scene for Easy Rider. In the picture above is Dennis Hopper, Jack Nicholson, and Peter Fonda.

Sacred Mountain gas station.

Another view of the San Fransciso Peaks south as we go north and then enter the Grand Canyon from the east.

The snow capped San Francisco Peaks in the distance. Flagstaff is at the base of the mountains.

Back on the interstate for a few miles and we spotted this old car. In some areas Route 66 was obliterated when the interstate was placed on top of it and there was no other option other than getting on the interstate..

A bridge and a dead end on old 66.

This car has seen better days!

A meteor that was found on a ranch years ago.

A viewing platform a short walk down. At least it was short when compared to how big this thing is!

The view from the rim looking outside.

I would say it was very windy up on the rim.

Looking down inside of the crater.

A view from the interstate of Meteor Crater in far distance.

Now I can say I saw a Lotus.

It was just so pretty.

A path through a field of ferns near Slide Rock.

Another day and we are on the way out of Sedona headed for the Meteor Crater and then the Grand Canyon.

The sun going down on another day in Sedona.

In the area of the vortex.

Now this person was much more into it than I was.

At the site of a vortex. One of 3 in Sedona which some say are areas where you can feel a strong healing energy. A native American who was selling her jewelry here said that an area of trees was where you could feel it the strongest. I suppose I was too close minded and in too much of hurry because I didn't feel anything except a sense of being late!

A view of Sedona down below.

The Church built into the rocks of Sedona.

A home in Sedona. Not for the average person!

A fun day was had here. This is known as 'The Steps' and it's also where my cell phone drowned when the ice chest turned over into my purse.

Nope, I didn't have the nerve to go down it. You have to immediately turn to the left at the bottom. The turn can be seen on the left side of the picture. There's nothing to stop you if you don't make the turn. Nathan said I was chicken. I said so what.

After a day of staying in bed I was feeling well enough to go jeeping the next day

Tangled tree roots.

More of Sedona.
